I 10,000% recommend working with Kelly Lorenz. She was a dream to have at our wedding because she is fun and spunky just like our guests, but as a photographer she gives great direction while also making herself a part the party. The reason I HAD TO HAVE HER is because I am obsessed with how she beautifully captures candid moments. Her blog gives me chills - it just oozes love and energy. - Tara and Colin
“Ahhhhh!!!! Kelly!!!!! This was the most amazing thing ever! We knew you’d be sending the slideshow, but knew we probably wouldn’t be able to watch ’til after the honeymoon (we had no phone, internet, NOTHING!). However, right before our longggg flight home, we were able to watch at the airport!! It truly is magnificent, and it’s exactly why we knew no one else could capture it but YOU! My parents also cannot shut up about it, and my Dad can’t get enough of how you do what you do SO well. He keeps talking about the angles, etc. “It’s brilliant! It’s brilliant! Anyway, you were the most amazing vendor to work with from beginning (2.5 years ago) to end. Your energy, enthusiasm, and calmness throughout helped make the day run smoothly and flawlessly. Thank you for everything you have done, and we can’t wait to work with you again!” – Ben and Rebecca
“Thank you for the beautiful slide show! I read your email on my phone after returning to our hotel from a morning swim, and I literally ran from my room to the hotel’s business center. I was totally the crazy girl in the wet bikini crying, laughing and talking to herself. I just couldn’t believe that these gorgeous images were from our wedding!!! I knew that you were extremely talented, and I loved the photos I saw from other couple’s weddings, but it didn’t occur to me that ours would be so so good. I love every photo and the story they tell together. I am excited to see more and I’m saving all my pennies for that album!” – Lauren
“From the first moment of our first meeting, I knew that we’d found the perfect photographer for our wedding. Your enthusiastic, fun and entirely poised presentation of yourself, your philosophy and your work was so compelling. I knew that if anyone could make me feel like a beautiful — and unique — bride, and manage to capture a few pictures that might convince someone else of that feeling, you were that person.” – Cindy
“I couldn’t recommend Kelly enough. She did a magnificent job. Our wedding was just a month ago… and I am *so happy* with the pictures – they are so fun, and came out beautifully. I don’t think I would change one of them. Equally as important to note: working with Kelly was a breeze. She was so easy and great on the day of the wedding. I felt really comfortable with her being around while I was finishing getting ready… she did such a nice job of capturing the shots she needed without being intrusive. Her easy/friendly way made having a camera on you all day almost unnoticeable.” – Krissy
“I never had a moment’s fear that you would deliver anything less than memory-preserving images of an, obviously, pretty memorable moment in my life. The caliber of your business is also reflected in the talent of your assistant. I had a similar confidence in her competence. The teamwork you two exhibited was refreshing and helped all of us enter into your magical space of togetherness and creativity. I can’t believe you had me and my groom hitting a tennis ball in our wedding attire!” – C.C.
“Absolutely amazing. I’ve never seen better (and I’ve had lots of friends get married!!) and not only does she do a wonderful job, she’s great to work with. It’s like having your best friend take your pictures!” - B.H.
“She is incredible… Kelly was born to be a photographer and has the gift of seeing the world in a creative and magnificently beautiful way…she is not only original but personal and her pictures are impeccable!!” – K.M.
“Kelly brings an amazing energy to her pictures and the events she shoots. As a bride that doesn’t like to take pictures, she made taking pictures fun and relaxing and had variety of fresh ideas!” – T.C.
“I’ve seen many photographs by Kelly and they all look as if they are taken by a close friend. The subjects are always so open and comfortable around her which allow the photos to speak to her incredible talents. ” - C.B.
“Kelly manages to make a picture truly “say a thousand words.” She is brilliant at capturing a moment and making the viewer feel like they are experiencing it. ” – M.E.
“Kelly has a special talent to capture special moments that you didn’t even know you experienced at the time! She’s an amazing photographer. Her work is unique and simply beautiful.” – B.S.
The wedding was a beautiful black tie wedding at the State Room, inspired by Maria's desire to have it be a classic black tie affair with a warm and romantic feel. She wanted classic elegance with little bits of old Hollywood glam mixed with secret garden floral notes. They ensured their guests had everything they needed to enjoy their night; from ballet flats for the women, a band they could dance all night to, and custom drinks which told the story of where the bride and groom's roots began in New Jersey and Boston.
When asked what her favorite memory from the wedding was, Maria had this to say: "That is a really tough question because the entire day was my favorite; from getting ready with my mom and best girl friends, to walking down the aisle with my dad, then marrying my best friend and love of my life and finally, partying the night away with all of our closest family and friends- it really does not get any better! I wish I could relive it all over again :)"
Below are some questions that have been asked of me, which will give you a better sense of who I am as a person! :)
How Do You Spend Your Free Time?
Free time?! Free time??! My husband and I joke that we haven't had enough free time in the past 6 years to even know what that even is anymore! Running a full time photography business in addition to raising two amazing but needy little people, leaves little "free time," but on the occasion that I do get away, you will find me shopping at Marshalls, LuLu Lemon, or Nordstrom, because NORDSTROM! Followed by dinner and wine with friends at a new restaurant in Boston.
What's Your Most Favorite Memory at a Wedding?
This year marked my twelfth year photographing weddings. There are so many moments that come to mind, but I think my absolute favorite moment was at a wedding I photographed this past year. The bride's father had been sick - in and out of the hospital for months leading up to the wedding. Neither of them knew for sure if he would make it to the wedding, be able to walk his daughter down the aisle, give his toast, or dance with her at the reception. Thankfully her father made it through every single one of these events throughout the evening, and after he danced with his daughter, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. As he sat down at his table, his wife of 30+ years, gave him a high five and kiss on the cheek. The pride and joy in her expression was something I will never forget. It is in these moments that I come alive. These are the moments worth capturing.
What's the Worst Thing That's Happened to You on a Wedding Day?
I fell. Loudly. In a church. During the ceremony. In front of everyone. You know those kneelers in Catholic churches? I was kneeling on one, got up to go toward the center of the aisle for the kiss, forgot to put the kneeler up, tripped and FELL in front of everyone. Yep. The Priest and couple turned around to make sure I was ok, which I was, and I just blushed and smiled and kept on shooting. Because hey, it's not about me :)
What Are You Most Proud Of?
I have worked really hard to create a certain kind of life for myself and my family. Like many of us, my childhood was challenging. Early on in adulthood I made it a priority to create a life filled with peace, joy, and love. I have been very intentional in making decisions based on these three things, and am very proud to say that my current home life is just that: Peaceful, joyful, and filled with love. We are not perfect by any means, and there are often times when one or all of these things are out of sync, but this is the goal. When we don't reach this goal, we try again. And again. And again.
Why Did You Become a Wedding Photographer?
Because cake - every week :) And because weddings are awesome! I know, it sounds obvious to say that I love being able to capture real, intimate moments between couples and their guests, but that is truly what it comes down to. Wedding photos are the only concrete memory from the event. I have the privilege of freezing those moments, and presenting them to the couple.
Awarded 2017's Couple's Choice award by Wedding Wire, Kelly's work has been featured in a variety of publications, as well as online wedding magazines and blogs, including Style Me Pretty, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, The New York Times, Huffington Post, The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Junebug Weddings, and The Knot.
I have know Julianna since she was a sweet little high schooler, and have watched her grow into a beautiful young lady who has accomplished more in her 30 short years than most do in a lifetime. To say she is a hard worker is an understatement. Somehow, amongst her intense school and work schedule, she managed to find Brendan. These two have known each other since childhood - growing up only a few streets away from one another, re connected as adults, and the rest... is history! I couldn't have hoped for a better match for Julianna. Watching these two interact was such a joy. Both share a love for the Boston Red Sox, and we had a blast walking through the empty park, while making some pictures along the way. After our visit to Fenway, we found ourselves at Tasty Burger - home of Boston's best burger!
Tara and Colin's wedding will go down as one of my favorite weddings of all time. Not only are these two adorable in every way, but they built their celebration around everything that they are passionate about: Family, friends, travel, faith, and good food and music.
Whitney and Matt were married at The Willowdale Estate in early August. Theirs was a lovely outdoor wedding filled with great family, friends, and A LOT of laughs! As part owner of Del's Lemonade, Matt made sure his guests were well taken care of by handing out slushy's to everyone upon arrival. Whitney and Matt, you were an absolute joy to photograph!
I have been to Good Harbor Beach many times, and each time I look up and wonder who lives in the amazing house on top of the surrounding hill. Well, a couple of weeks ago I found out! Danielle and Ben were married in said house. A long time family friend graciously hosted their wedding at their home, and it was a picture perfect day - pun intended :) Not only was the chemistry between Danielle and Ben incredible, but their interactions with family and friends was so energetic and fun!
