I mentioned in my previous post, that a lot of work went in to making this portrait. Having your family photographed is no small feat. Looking through the images Shyla took of our family, I was reminded of how stressful the days leading up to the shoot were! What would we all wear, what if it was a humid day, and my crazy curly hair went all frizzy and unruly? What if Brooklyn didn’t do what I wanted her to for the camera? You get the point.
Usually I am the one behind the camera, and therefore my outfit is of no concern – nor is my hair
It really is tough when it’s your own family and you want everything to be perfect. There were many frustrating little mishaps throughout the shoot, and I wasn’t confident we would get any good images. Of course Shyla being so talented, managed to work a miracle and surprised us with several AMAZING images that brought me to tears upon seeing them.
My point? I get it! Having done it myself, I understand the efforts you go through to make it to your shoot! I can assure you, getting TO the shoot is the hardest part. After that, well then you can relax and hang out with your family while I capture it.
Here is a look back at some of my favorite portraits of 2011:
