I saw this print and it made me smile. It reminded me of my daily life. Two small children, a husband finishing his Ph D., laundry, play dates, dr. appointments… etc. But in it all there IS love. And that makes it all worth it.

My grandmother and aunt were visiting the other day, and brought some old photographs to share with me. Now, I have seen many photos from my grandmother’s wedding, but this image is by far my favorite. It captures the moment so perfectly. My grandparents were married in 1952 – sixty years ago, and the best thing about this photo is that it could’ve been taken today! That’s the thing about good photography – it stands the test of time.

I always tell people that photography is the only concrete memory you will have from your wedding day. Days later the food will be eaten, the flowers will have wilted, and the dancing will be over. But the photographs will last a lifetime. Which is why you need a great photographer

Little black book.

Last season I photographed a wedding at The Hampshire House in Boston – a beautiful historic mansion AS WELL AS the bar that the hit t.v. show Cheers was designed after. Like millions of others, I was a HUGE fan of the show, and watched it religiously with my father week after week – until the show ended my senior year of high school. So sad.

After the wedding, as I was waiting for my car, a group of 20 somethings walked by. One of them asked “What’s Cheers?” GASP! His friend answered “I think it was a t.v. show or something a long time ago.” um…. WHAT?!!!! When did I get so old that Cheers isn’t a well known t.v. show anymore?????? Totally ruined my night. But I digress.

Remember Sam Malone – the star of the show? Well he was famously known as a womanizer, and he had a little black book full of female numbers to prove it. This little black book was something he – and many other men of the like - held VERY sacred, and it was a prized possession.

The black book concept may have died with the advent of the iPhone, however, the idea of it is something that persists, and it got me to thinking…

So, here it is — my version of a little black book. In it you will find the best of the best BLACK AND WHITE images from your wedding. Just a little something extra that stands out from your original wedding album. Something timeless. An adorable little prized possession.

My little girl turned 3. Yep, 3. She will tell you she’s tree, and proudly show you how many that is with her fingers. I’ve heard every parent say it over and over again, but it really is true – time goes by so quickly. Brooklyn has grown into the coolest little girl. She is an absolute blast to hang out with everyday, and makes me laugh - continuously. I can’t imagine anyone else I would rather spend my days with. Here are some things Brooklyn would want you to know about her:
1. Her name begins with a B.
2. She IS a princess.
3. Shoes are by far the most important part of any outfit.
4. Her most favorite food is mac and cheese. And chocolate.
5. She loves to play dress up. Every day. From the time she wakes up until she goes to sleep at night.
6. She does NOT like Santa.

7. She likes Santa – I know. It depends on the day.
8. Yo Gabba Gabba is the only t.v. show for her
9. Dancing is how she spends most of her day – in her princess dresses of course.
10. She can sit on the big girl potty now.
11. She loves being a big sister. Almost all of the time.
12. She loves to help me clean. I hope that lasts.
13. She helps daddy cook almost every meal.
14. Cutting with scissors is a new challenge she is excited to overcome.
15. She can tell you all of the colors of the rainbow.
16. She will tell you that mama’s name is Kelly and Daddy’s name is Sean.
17. She loves to paint with spaghetti.
18. She will swing on the swings for hours. Sometimes even until she falls asleep!
19. She loves the Bernie and Phyl’s commercials on t.v. – so weird
20. She loves anything sparkly and or shiny.

Happy birthday sweet girl. You make every day beautiful, and I am so proud to be your mama.
